Gestalt workshop: A man’s journey – consciousness, identity, relationships | workshop for men – Marten Bos, Kamil Torczewski.
A workshop about finding healthy relationships with oneself and others.
There are many expectations in the world about “how to be – and behave – as a man.” This workshop focuses on deepening our awareness of our needs as men, as well as the different roles and positions we occupy in life: son, father, brother, partner, friend, colleague – in a way that is individual to each of us. We will explore topics such as:
- How do we deal with social norms, our past, and thoughts about the future?
- How to understand and follow your own needs, goals, identity in a healthy way, both for yourself and in your relationships with others?
- How do I gain greater awareness of who and what I want to be – both for myself and in my relationships with others?
- How do you find your own healthy way of being yourself, a man?
During the workshop A Man’s Journey…. we offer the opportunity to explore these issues together with other men in a safe, though sometimes challenging, space. We will focus on personal questions of comfort and discomfort in the context of gender, sexuality, background, relationships. Our focus will be on the “here and now” – where we are in the context of our past and future, roles, positions, emotions, thoughts, body and mind. From a Gestalt perspective, we will work on the personal and collective messages we have received as men. We will use group, small team and individual work, using exercises, experiments, conversations, exploration, reflection and a bit of theory. We will be looking at messages about how we deal with our relationships with others and with the world we live in.
Our thesis is that instead of looking for an answer to the question “what does it mean to be a real man,” it is worth confronting the question of how to create a good, healthy relationship with yourself and others.
Gestalt workshop – Marten Bos, Kamil Torczewski: A man’s journey…. is designed for all men between the ages of 18 and 100+ interested in deepening their understanding of their own identity. In particular, men who are in the process of growth, change or struggling with new challenges are encouraged to participate. Psychotherapy students and practicing therapists of various modalities are also welcome to attend (workshop counted toward the so-called Free Choice hours required by training institutes and organizations such as EAGT).
