Credits and Summary - Conditions for Completion of Stages I and II and the Final Examination at the Lodz School of Gestalt Psychotherapy

Credits and summation at the Lodz Gestalt School are usually held at the last end-of-year assemblies. Below are the detailed criteria and the general form of the compositions in which the credits and summation take place.

Credit – Stage I

Stage I – Development Year, ends with a summary of the training process to date. It is not completed with a credit or exam. The last class is used to assimilate the experience during the work at this stage of training and to say goodbye to the group participants.

Credit – Stage II Year 1

The credit consists of an initial consultation with a client, where the client becomes a person from the group. The purpose of this meeting is to establish contact and a contract. The session should last 50 minutes.

In order to take the credit for the 1st year, the trainee shall submit a set of documents directly to the supervisor in time before the credit for the year, i.e. 9 convention:

  • Certificate of self-therapy with signature of therapist and number of hours,
  • Certificate of internship with the signature of the institution in which he practices along with the number of hours – if the participant already has written permission and practices,
  • Certificate of additional training – if attended – with the signature of the instructor and the number of hours,
  • Certificate of additional workshops with the signature of the instructor and the number of hours, if the participant took part in such a workshop.

Credit – Stage II Year 2

The credit consists of conducting a therapy session with a client, where the client becomes a person from the group. The purpose of this meeting is to emerge a figure and work with the figure. The session should last 50 minutes.

In order to take the credit for the 2nd year, the trainee shall submit a set of documents directly to the supervisor by the deadline before the credit for the year, i.e. 9 convention:

  • Certificate of self-therapy with signature of therapist and number of hours,
  • Certificate of internship with the signature of the institution in which he practices along with the number of hours,
  • Certificate of additional training – if attended – with the signature of the instructor and the number of hours,
  • Certificate of additional workshops with the signature of the instructor and the number of hours, if the participant took part in such a workshop,
  • Description of one therapeutic process with an individual client. The duration of the process must not be less than 3 months and should include 12 meetings with the client.

Summary – Stage II Year 3

The purpose of the summary is to test the participant’s skills acquired during the four-year training in Gestalt Psychotherapy. It involves conducting a full psychotherapy session with a client, where the client is a drawn person from the group. The session should last 50 minutes. The summary should combine theory and practice. The session is recorded and deleted immediately after discussion. The credit committee consists of 3 people: two coaches from the School ‘s staff and one outside coach. Participants will learn about the composition of the committee more or less Two weeks before the summary date. In the event that the summarized receives a negative result, he has the opportunity to take the credit on the next date. The date for the summation is determined by the Senior Trainer in consultation with the office. The credit is paid additionally: 400 zloty.

To take the credit, the trainee submits a set of documents directly to the supervisor on the date before the exam, i.e. 9 convention:

  • Certificate of self-therapy with signature of therapist and number of hours,
  • Certificate of internship with the signature of the institution in which he practices along with the number of hours,
  • Certificate of additional training – if attended – with the signature of the instructor and the number of hours,
  • Certificate of additional workshops with the signature of the instructor and the number of hours, if the participant took part in such a workshop,
  • Descriptions of two therapeutic processes with individual clients. Each process must last no less than 3 months and should include 12 meetings with the client,
  • The participant also submits a paper version of the thesis approved by the supervisor to the School’s office.
