Code of ethics of the polish association of gestalt psychopsychotherapy
Introduction
Here is the updated Code of Ethics applicable to individuals and entities that are members of the Polish Society for Gestalt Psychotherapy (PTPG).
The purpose of this code of the psychotherapy profession is to indicate the basic values and norms and to establish standards for the professional practice of Gestalt psychotherapists and Gestalt psychotherapy training centers. In addition, the Code is intended to be a source of knowledge about Gestalt psychotherapy (an approach from the group of humanistic-experiential approaches) and to protect the interests of those people who are clients of Gestalt psychotherapists.
Gestalt psychotherapists are responsible for adhering to the principles contained in the Code of Ethics, with the intentionality of seeing them as a starting point for further construction of broadly defined rules of good professional practice rather than a closed set of once and for all formulated requirements. The Code serves to protect the interests of clients and psychotherapists, as it establishes standards that clearly define a framework for professional practice and responsibility in the psychotherapy process.
The primary goal of psychotherapy is to work to improve the psychophysical and social condition of individuals, social groups in the process of building a psychotherapeutic relationship. The principles of the Code create a platform for resolving potential problems and conflicts that may arise in the process between two or more parties. We should add that an important value for Gestalt psychotherapists is to solve problems in dialogue and through the exchange of views, rather than on the basis of a hierarchical system of rigidly formulated rules and various consequent consequences.
