Specialized Gestalt workshop with Graham Colbourne event description:
“I’m very interested in experiments that are real, direct and related to the lived encounter between therapist and client, and connect to what is important in the client’s existence/life and relationships.
The classic “two chairs” experiment is usually very different from this – it refers to an internal division of the client, or even a kind of imagined role-playing with another person: in this way, the important field and relational context of the client’s choices, adjustments and developmental interventions and absences can be overlooked. In the worst case scenario, the client is isolated, feeling responsible for changing his experience or demanding change from the therapist.
During the workshop, I will present ways of working in which dialogue and experiment are closely intertwined, and experimentation is based on mutual exploration of relationships. The focus on relationships emphasizes/recognizes trauma and developmental crisis, as well as the possibility of healing through the experience of a new and different relationship. Relational themes will inevitably include power, rejection, betrayal, kindness, cooperation, shared awareness and understanding, body resonances, respect, and proximity/withdrawal.”
